Throwback Thursday: redesigning the Old Campus

Fifty years ago this summer, workers descended on the Old Campus for a major renovation of five residence halls. In our February 1976 issue, we showed before-and-after floor plans of Lawrance Hall to show the scope of the work. The renovations, designed by the firm of Herbert S. Newman ’59BArch, were funded by an $8.5 million gift from John Hay Whitney ’26.
