Most alumni will remember this as a disused railroad line—and before that it was a nineteenth-century canal—but the Farmington Canal Greenway (shown here from Hillhouse Avenue) now provides a pathway all the way to Cheshire for pedestrians and bicyclists, including a number of Yale commuters. The city of New Haven is preparing to complete the trail's last two blocks, leading to its terminus at Orange and Grove Streets, by 2017. ___________________________________________ The Yale Alumni Magazine is published by Yale Alumni Publications Inc., an alumni-based nonprofit that is not run by Yale University.
