As the Class of 2019 was finding its way around campus this week, we ran across this November 1965 issue of our magazine featuring interviews with 11 members of the Class of 1969, the last class to graduate from an all-male Yale College. They included film critic and talk radio host Michael Medved (“I won’t heel the News. I don’t like journalism—it’s too crass and practical”), longtime Yale administrator Lloyd Suttle (“I expected a huge campus with lots of strange boys, so I was pleasantly surprised at how easy it is to make friends”), and classical actor Yannis Simonides (“I thought Yale would be a good place to study physics”).
