Throwback Thursday: a pioneer

Our May 1969 issue featured an article about how “Black studies,” as it was then called, came to Yale, including portraits of African American student leaders. Pictured here is Glenn De Chabert ’70, the first president of the Black Student Alliance at Yale. De Chabert died in 1994.

The Yale Alumni Magazine is published by Yale Alumni Publications Inc., an alumni-based nonprofit that is not run by Yale University. Its content does not necessarily reflect the views of the university administration.
