In Remembrance: Jack E. McGregor ’56 Died on January 6 2026

Jack Edwin McGregor died at home in Mifflinburg, Pennsylvania, on January 6, 2026. He was 91. He attended Yale on a full scholarship, was a member of Skull and Bones, and served in the ROTC.  After graduating he served in the US Marine Corps, and later earned a law degree at University of Pittsburgh. While in law school he was elected to the Pennsylvania state senate and served two terms there.

His work took him in several directions — sports (McGregor was the founder of the Pittsburgh Penguins National Hockey League franchise as well as the founder of the Bridgeport Bluefish minor league baseball team), government service, venture capital, and business ownership.  

He leaves his wife Joannah, four children and their spouses, 12 grandchildren, 12 great-grandchildren, his sister, and numerous other family.
