In Remembrance: Ekaterina Pushkareva ’04 Died on December 29 2024

Ekaterina Pushkareva, also known as Cayte Kaminsky, passed away on December 29, 2024. There is no obituary, but her family has sent this poem, written by her stepfather, to share with the Yale community:

Ekaterina 

To our beloved Ekaterina: 
Cherished daughter of Marina, 
Treasured grandchild of Nina. 
Descended from the illustrious Shlyapnikov line. 
Heiress of an historic heritage most rare and fine. 
No better genes are to be found, as I opine. 

A Rennaissance master of the humanities. 
Possessed of a refined mind above all vanities. 
Seasoned hiker conqueror of mountain and dale. 
With a fine education and a degree from Yale. 
Scholar of theory and practice of scholastic test. 
Your students aced the SAT, did their level best. 

Alas, we were not destined to share your company for many a year, 
But the wonderful memories we cherish will ever be most dear. 
It is time for us to bid you a tearful adieu... 
Accept this humble verbal bouquet from me to you.
