He served in the US Navy after Yale, and earned a PhD in linguistics from University of Michigan. He spent the bulk of his career teaching at the University of Hawaii, retiring in 1990 as associate dean of the College of Arts and Sciences. A notice appeared on the website for the Hawaiian Memorial Mortuary Park. |
