In Remembrance: Donald E. Hooper ’47E Died on April 17 2019

Donald Edward Hooper passed away on April 17, 2019, at the age of 92. He worked his entire career for Public Service Electrical and Gas in New Jersey, retiring in 1988, and was involved in work with the National Electrical Safety Code, updating and revising the code every three to five years.

    I graduated from Yale College 28 years after Don. He became my guide and friend starting around 2000. I was at that time the lawyer for a start-up company trying to build fiber-optic networks. Virtually every other company in the same line of business failed. Mine did not, thanks to Don. From 2000 to at least 2015, Don offered his knowledge and advice to clients of his consulting business. I took FULL advantage of him. An interesting aspect of the service he provided to my company is that his advice was never limited to the technical but always extended to the practical, strategic, and tactical. Don was one extraordinarily smart man! He was also very kind and caring. I miss him.
