By the numbers: Class of 2030

The makeup of the class in the third year after affirmative action.

Three years after the Supreme Court decision that barred universities from using race as a factor in admissions, Yale’s Class of 2030 showed an uptick in Asian American students from last year and one or two percentage-point declines in all other racial and ethnic categories. The chart below shows the self-reported background of incoming first-years from the US in each of the last six years. It does not include international students, who make up 10 percent of each class. (Totals exceed 100 percent because some students indicated two or more categories.)
