Light & VerityAt home abroadYale offers summer courses in 13 countries. ![]() John RomanView full imageAround 850 to 900 Yale College students earn course credit through study abroad every summer. Most of them enroll in outside programs and earn transfer credit, but the college offers a handful of overseas courses taught by its own faculty. In 2026, Yale Summer Session Programs Abroad has 24 offerings in 13 countries. (See the countries and the number of courses in each one in the map above.) About half are language courses; students can also take an introduction to painting in Florence, try their hand at young-adult fiction in Stockholm, or study both epidemiological methodology and hands-on filmmaking (in the same course) in Cape Town.

This map needs to be updated. Yale has canceled two of the oldest summer programs for 2026: Ecuador--5th semester Spanish (20+ years) and Brazil--intensive Portuguese and Intro to Brazil (year 20). The Global South has all but disappeared.
