Two awarded Porter and Field prizes
Two recent Graduate School graduates received the John Addison Porter Prize and the Theron Rockwell Field Prize, among the university’s most prestigious awards. Jeanne Sauvage ’26PhD (French) received the Field Prize for her dissertation on US literature in translation for French readers. Daniel Graves ’26PhD (classics and history) received the Porter Prize for his dissertation on Thomas Jefferson and the intellectual life of the early American republic. Both were recognized at the Graduate School’s convocation ceremony in May.
Twenty named Data Science Fellows
The Peter Salovey and Marta Moret Data Science Fellows Program has named its inaugural cohort of 20 PhD student fellows. The program, which launched this past spring, is a collaboration between the Graduate School and the Yale Institute for Foundations of Data Science. Fellows in the inaugural group represent a wide range of fields spanning the biological sciences, physical sciences and engineering, social sciences, and the humanities. Fellows will have access to mentoring, professional development, and outreach opportunities. The support will complement the students’ ongoing PhD training and encourage engagement with a wider community of scholars addressing the challenges facing science and society where data science plays a critical role.
YPS welcomes twelve doctoral fellows
Twelve PhD students from across the university will receive the Stella M. Hammond Planetary Solutions Fellowship, building skills, community, and broader research horizons. Fellows’ projects will advance solutions in climate, biodiversity, ecosystems, and society. The 2026–28 cohort represents a wide range of research interests, from applied physics to anthropology. Fellows receive a $3,500 annual stipend “top-up” for each year of the fellowship, along with a $2,000 research stipend. The program is a partnership between the Graduate School and Yale Planetary Solutions.
