Dean’s course brings new mural to the Peabody Museum

The Peabody Museum recently unveiled a new mural created as part of the fall 2025 School of Art course Cave Paintings to Graffiti: History Thru Practice, taught by Dean Kymberly Pinder. In collaboration with muralist and alum Irisol González-Vega ’24MFA (painting/printmaking), the students in Dean Pinder’s class worked in groups to propose ideas for a potential mural inspired by the museum’s collections. The resulting work, Temporal Portal, is nestled in an arched alcove in the museum’s Central Gallery; visitors watched in real time as the mural came to life in December and January before its unveiling this spring.
