Venice architecture biennale
Many Yale faculty and alumni will be participating in this year’s 19th International Architecture Exhibition (Biennale Architettura2025) in Venice, May 10–November 23.
As part of the main exhibition Intelligens. Natural. Artificial. Collective., curated by Carlo Ratti, projects by School of Architecture faculty members Anthony Acciavatti, Christopher Hawthorne ’93, Joyce Hsiang ’99, ’03MArch, Bimal Mendis ’98, ’02MArch, and Benedetta Tagliabue will be featured. Also featured as curators of national pavilions are Peter MacKeith ’85MArch, the lead commissioner of the US Pavilion, PORCH: An Architecture of Generosity; Azza Aboualam ’18MArch, curating the National Pavilion UAE, Pressure Cooker; and Louis I. Kahn Visiting Assistant Professors Kabage Karanja and Stella Mutegi, curating the British Pavilion, GBR—Geology of Britannic Repair, in which faculty member Mae-Ling Lokko is also featured as a participant. Many firms founded by Yale alumni will show work in the main exhibition and in the national pavilions as well.
AIA Gold Medal
Edward P. Bass Dean Deborah Berke is the 2025 recipient of the Gold Medal, the highest honor bestowed by the American Institute of Architects. The medal will be officially awarded at a gala on June 5 as part of the 2025 AIA Conference on Architecture in Boston. In conjunction, the School of Architecture will host a reception for alumni and friends on June 6.
