Community Impacts from Hydraulic Fracturing: What We Know, What We Don’t Know, and What We Hope to Learn about Oil & Gas Development.

The Center of the American West’s FrackingSENSE series returns. This is the first of three events; click here for more info. These Spring 2015 events bring speakers who offer a unique range of perspectives on Hydraulic Fracturing and Natural Gas and Oil development.

Jacquet’s work has analyzed community effects from hydraulic fracturing in states across the United States. From 2005-2008, he was the social impact analyst for Sublette County, Wyoming, and has since performed research and outreach for Cornell University, Penn State, Headwaters Economics, and more. Recently, he presented his research to the National Academy of Sciences and the Health Effects Institute. He is currently an assistant professor of Sociology and Rural Studies at South Dakota State University.

The Center of the American West was founded in 1986 by Patty Limerick ’74MA, ’75MPhil, ’80phd and CU Law Professor Charles Wilkinson.

The Center of the American West, as part of its mission to increase awareness and knowledge about a variety of issues we face as Westerners, hosts a number of public events every year.
