Rest
easy: the Supreme Court bobblehead dolls have a home at the Yale Law Library.
When librarian Fred Shapiro (author of the Yale Alumni Magazine’s quotations column)
approached the offbeat legal journal The Green Bag about preserving the
bobbleheads it produces, the journal responded with not only a complete set of
the dolls, but also a few rough drafts never before seen by the public. It’s
all part of a library’s mission, explains Shapiro: just as archives preserve
book manuscripts, “we have preliminary versions of them so future bobblehead
scholars can study their development.”
