“Gay Ivy” letters brought to life

Megan Stern '06, shown here singing "Slipping Out of Windows" by Bix Bettwy '08 and Eric Kubo '07, is 42 years younger than the alumnus whose near-suicide at Yale inspired the song. But then, her performance is part of The Gay Ivy, a collection of songs, scenes, and monologues written and performed in New York last fall by two dozen young alumni channeling the experiences and beliefs of people of vastly different ages and world views. The project, conceived and directed by Ethan Heard '07, took off from the flood of letters responding to the Yale Alumni Magazine feature “Why They Call Yale the ‘Gay Ivy,’” (July/August).  the end
