One-man sextet makes it big

Sam Tsui '11

Sure, the Whiffenpoofs have been around for a hundred years, but have they ever gotten a million hits on YouTube? Internet a cappella sensation Sam Tsui '11 has. In a video that went viral after it got mentions from blogger Perez Hilton and others this summer, Tsui and five clones sing a Michael Jackson medley on the stage of the Sudler Lecture Hall. Tsui, who also sings with the Duke’s Men, performs all the vocal parts, which were arranged and produced by his high school friend Kurt Schneider '10. The two have since appeared on the Bonnie Hunt Show and have made more videos, and Schneider has been flooded with requests for his arrangements from show choirs. Not bad for a classics major (Tsui) and a math major (Schneider).  the end
