A preseason media poll picks Harvard to win the Ivy League
football title this year. Yale is picked to finish fourth, behind Penn and
Brown. In last year's poll, Harvard and Yale tied for first place; the Crimson
ended up tying with Brown for the Ivy championship while Yale finished fourth.
The men's basketball team will makes its second-ever
appearance in the preseason National Invitational Tournament in November. The
Bulldogs' 2009-10 schedule also includes a road trip to Colorado and Colorado
State in December.
Fencing coach Henry Harutunian was inducted into the U.S.
Fencing Hall of Fame in July. Harutunian, who is entering his 40th year of
coaching at Yale, has led one men's team and four women's teams to NCAA championships.
He has also coached numerous individual champions, including three-time Olympic
medalist Sada Jacobson '06.
Brandon Josselyn '09 became the newest Eli in professional
baseball when he was picked by the Seattle Mariners in the 25th round of the
amateur draft in June. Josselyn, who was Ivy League Pitcher of the Year last
spring, pitched for the rookie-league Pulaski (Virginia) Mariners and the Class
A Clinton (Iowa) Lumberkings this summer.
