If you think Yale alumni lean a little to the left, you're probably right. In a 2006 Yale Alumni Magazine survey, 53 percent of a representative sample of readers identified themselves as Democrats, 25 percent as Republicans, and 19 percent as independents. For comparison, a Pew Research Center national survey of registered voters that same year turned up 35 percent Democrats, 31 percent Republicans, and 34 percent independents.
