These three graphs compare New Haven with two other
large northeastern cities -- Newark, New Jersey, a city that is coping with hard
times; and Boston, the quintessential large, prosperous New England metropolis.
They also show how New Haven stacks up against Connecticut's capital, Hartford;
and two other cities of similar size, one quite prosperous and one less so.
