The Cabinet

The Cabinet, 1819-1890
Built as Yale's second Commons, this Federal-style building was later known as the Cabinet when it housed two exceptional "cabinets" -- or collections -- of minerals. Still later, it housed the physics and astronomy departments before it came down along with most of the rest of Yale's antebellum buildings in the 1890s.
