Graced With Double Vision: A Yale-China Exhibit

May 27, 2013 — June 02, 2013
The Rotunda, Exchange Square, One Exchange Square, 8 Connaught Place, Central, Hong Kong

The Graced with Double Vision exhibit profiles twelve individuals who exemplify “double vision,” an ability to see the world on both American and Chinese terms. It is this ability that has been at the heart of the work of the Yale-China Association for over a century.

The first half of the exhibit shares excerpts from the life-long journeys that brought this double vision into a clear and focused embodiment of mutual respect and understanding between Chinese and Americans, laying the foundation of service and friendship that persists to this day.

The second half of the exhibit features stories that show how, when faced with political upheaval in mainland China, a new partnership with New Asia College allowed the spirit of Yale-China’s double vision to live on, thrive in Hong Kong, and finally return to flourish once again in the mainland.

Throughout Yale-China’s history, the relentless work of these individuals and many others has established a legacy of good will, partnership, and guardianship of the art of double vision. We are proud to have received this gift from them, and look forward to passing it on to future generations.
